"TIME OUT" with Tom...

"TIME OUT" with Tom...
- March 2008 Edition

RAWLINGS IS THE BALL OF THE 2009-2010 TOURNEY: The Rawlings basketball will be used in every MHSAA Tournament game next year. Since BCAM makes money on every Rawlings ball sold in Michigan, it makes sense to stock up with the Rawlings ball as you purchase equipment for next season. In the near future, the BCAM website will have a link set up to take you to the dealers in Michigan that are selling the Rawlings ball. This is a quality ball that will help BCAM financially.

NOMINATION FORMS: It is up to you to nominate your players for all the awards that BCAM offers. Go to the FORMS button at the top of this page and select the forms you need to download. Please note that the deadlines are anywhere from March 2nd to April 10th depending on the award. Be alert to the deadlines!!

REACHING HIGHER SHOWCASE: The selections for the top underclassmen have been made. Make sure that if your player has been selected that he/she returns all the necessary forms by the listed deadlines. This is shaping up to be a first-class program run by BCAM members. This is a giant step in bringing the recruiting process back into the high schools. Your support is appreciated.

MEMBERSHIP: We ended this membership year just under 3600 members. This is fewer than last year but not bad considering the economic conditions. We remain one of the largest basketball associations in the country.

HOSPITALITY ROOM: Don’t forget to stop by the BCAM Hospitality Room at the Boys’ State Finals on Saturday. We will again be located in the practice gym at Breslin. Bring your membership card to help speed up the distribution of pass-outs.

HOOP FEST: The first annual Hoop Fest will be located in Jenison Fieldhouse across the street from the Breslin Center. Click on the Hoop Fest button to the left for more information.

PAUL COOK HONORED: On Friday (Feb.27) Lansing Eastern High School honored Paul Cook, long time Lansing Eastern boys basketball coach, by naming the basketball court in the Don Johnson Fieldhouse the "PAUL COOK COURT." Coach Cook was in the first BCAM Hall of Fame class in 1985.

Thanks!

Executive Director
